Pyro Magazines

These pictures show a couple of high explosive (type 1 and 2) magazines that were build by one of our members.  These magazines were made using the ATF "Orange Book" as a reference guide.  For more  information about these magazines send e-mail to shubing@tznet.com.

This is a type 1 (permanent structure) high explosive magazine.  The building is made from cement block filled with sand.  The dimensions are 14 ft wide, 16 ft long with 9 ft walls.  The roof is 7/8 inch wood sheeting covered with 12 ga. steel.  There are foundation vents on three sides (one is visible here) and the roof has a ridge vent.
The door is constructed of 1/4 inch steel lined with 2 inches of hard wood.  It is locked with two padlocks.
Here you have a better view of the locking system.  The padlocks are covered with hoods to protect them from cutting.  The two inches of hardwood was bolted to the 1/4 inch steel door.
This in the interior of the magazine.  Notice the lattice work covering the walls.  The cement floor is painted with a static dissipative paint which runs to a ground.  You can also see one of the foundation vents in the bottom middle of the picture.
This is a type 2 outdoor magazine.  It's constructed of 1/4 inch steel lined with 2 inches of hardwood. Dimensions of the magazine are 2 ft wide, 4 ft high, 2 ft deep.  Even though this is a "outdoor" magazine, it is located inside of a 8 X 8 mini barn for weather protection.
This is the inside of the magazine.  Notice the 2 inches of hardwood (painted white) lining the inside of the magazine.
