Press

Presses are used to make may kinds of fireworks such as rockets, drivers, and fountains.  They can be powered mechanically (arbor press), hydraulically, or by air.  Using a press to make fireworks should only be done with the proper experience and safety precautions (like a blast shield).

Commercial H-Frame Hydraulic Press

press1.jpg (29247 bytes) This is a commercially made H-frame press.   The  10 ton hydraulic ram is single acting and is spring loaded for the return stroke.

Actual pressing should be done either outside or in a building specially designed for that purpose.  A blast shield (not shown here) should also be in place during pressing operations.

press2.jpg (32537 bytes) This press is powered by an air actuated hydraulic pump.  The air actuated type of pump sure saves time and energy over that of a hand pump type.
press3.jpg (30900 bytes) The H-Frame is adjustable, which comes in very handy when making different size rockets or drivers.
