PGI Shooters Certification Course

Shooters Certification Course

April 29, 2017

Well it's that time of the year again to start thinking about taking the PGI shooters certification course.  We'll be offering the course to club and non-club members on Saturday, April 29th at the Wildlife Campground .  The course will cost $75.00 for club members and $100.00 for non-club members.  The fee includes the PGI's "Display Fireworks Operator Certification Study Guide" (a $40.00 value), the opportunity to shoot two 3-inch shells, live demonstrations of fireworks malfunctions, and other miscellaneous course supplies.  Food will be available for a small additional fee. The course will start at 10:00 a.m. and will finish up around 6:00 p.m.   You will need to stay for the entire course from start to finish, so please plan your schedule accordingly.

The course consists of classroom work and live demonstrations of various shell malfunctions and a short test. Additionally, each student will have the opportunity for shoot two 3-inch shells under the supervision of a qualified instructor.

After successfully completing the course, students will receive a shooters card from the WPAG, which allows them to shoot class B material at any WPAG event.  Additionally we will send the course completion information to the PGI stating that the student has successfully completed the course.  The PGI will keep this information on file and once the student obtains the necessary show experience (must have worked on 5 fireworks shows, one of which has to be as lead shooter) and submits this information to the PGI, the PGI will issue a Display Fireworks Operator certificate.

If you're planning on taking the course fill out an application (see below to download) and return it to our club Safety Director with payment.  Payment is due by April 22th  2017. We limit the course to approximately 30 students, so sign up early, to be assured of getting a spot in the course.

Remember that in order to shoot class B materials at a WPAG shoot you need to have taken this course.

If you'd like more information on the course contact our club president or Safety Director.
